On Ascension Day, the Mauves played the Belgian Cup Final for the second consecutive year. It was an even more special occasion as the fixture featured a derby. RSC Anderlecht faced Union Saint-Gilloise in the cup final - a unique occasion in Belgian football. For this edition, the Business Club gathered at Palais 3, just a stone’s throw from the King Baudouin Stadium and in the shadow of the Atomium. Despite the final result, 1,600 members experienced this Brussels derby in the best possible conditions.
This year, the impressive hall of Palais 3 served as the setting for our VIP Village. The day started for our Business Club with a champagne aperitif by Taittinger and a selection of amuse-bouches. Afterwards, guests enjoyed a three-course menu prepared by our in-house caterer J&M Catering, paired with carefully selected wines from our partner Van Hende, while Belgian band Glasshelder provided the musical entertainment. Drinks were supplied by our partners AB InBev and Coca-Cola.
Many familiar faces were spotted at Palais 3. Former players Marcin Wasilewski, Anthony Vanden Borre, Jan Vertonghen and Tomasz Radzinski were all present for the cup final. Edwin van der Sar, former goalkeeper of Ajax, Manchester United and the Netherlands national team, was also among the guests. Owner Marc Coucke, chairman Michael Verschueren and CEO Kenneth Bornauw took the time to address the attending members ahead of the cup final.
Winners despite the sporting defeat
The match did not go as hoped, with RSCA missing out on a tenth Belgian Cup title. Nevertheless, the member of the Business Club gathered at Palais 3 after the game, enjoying music from a DJ and an open bar.
One of the attendees still ended the day as a winner. Before the match, all members were invited to submit their score prediction. Arne Van Hemel correctly predicted the final score and won two business seats at the Lotto Park for the 2026-2027 season.
Thanks to Brussels Airlines, another winner had already been announced at Palais 3 before kick-off. Our partner awarded one of the attending members with a voucher worth no less than €1,000.
