Sarah Wijnants returns to the club she calls home

Wijnants

Sarah Wijnants (26) completes the RSCA Women summer transfer window. The experienced forward, who boasts an impressive track record, joins us on a one-year loan from Italian side Fiorentina, with an option to buy. With no fewer than 44 caps for the Red Flames, as well as her pace and attacking threat, Sarah adds quality and experience to our frontline.

Sarah began her career at NS Tervuren before joining Standard Fémina in 2014. Despite her young age, she quickly established herself in the squad and won two consecutive Belgian league titles in 2016 and 2017 with les Rouches. At just 18 years old, she made the move to RSCA Women, where she soon became a key player for the first team.

Over the course of eight seasons, Sarah showcased her speed, vision and eye for goal, recording 95 goals and 121 assists in 224 appearances. She played a major role in RSCA’s run of seven consecutive Belgian league titles and also helped the club lift the Belgian Cup, scoring the opening goal in the final. With nine consecutive league titles to her name, she already boasts an outstanding list of honours.

In the summer of 2025, Sarah embraced a new challenge by joining Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A. After gaining valuable experience in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues, she now returns to the club closest to her heart, where she will wear the number 22 shirt.

Dave Mattheus, Director of RSCA Women, is naturally delighted to welcome her back: "I’m very pleased that such an experienced player as Sarah, with her qualities and impact, is strengthening our squad once again. Her arrival completes our summer transfer window. We can now fully focus on preparing for our European qualifiers."

Welcome home, Sarah.
