Nine players on international duty

After five league matches, the Lotto Women’s Pro League is taking a short break. Nine players from RSCA Women are heading off to join their national teams and will be representing their countries this week.

Karlijn Helsen has been called up to the Red Flames for the first time. Ahead of the World Cup in Brazil, the 22-year-old midfielder will face Poland twice with the Belgian national team. This coming Friday, 9 October at 8.15 pm, the Red Flames will take on Poland at Den Dreef in the play-offs of the Women’s European Qualifiers.

The Red Flames U23s also feature players in purple and white. Jorijn Covent, Nia Elyn and Lina Meeuwis have been called up for the two scheduled friendlies. On Thursday 8 October, the U23s will play Italy in Tubize. On Monday 12 October, they will travel to Lisbon for a second friendly against Portugal.

Alyssa Van De Poel, Manon Baert and Eva Spelkens are, meanwhile, part of the Belgian U19 squad. The young Red Flames will face Finland twice (Thursday 8 October and Monday 12 October).

RSCA Women across the rest of Europe

Rimantė Jonušaitė has been called up for the Lithuanian national teams. Like the Red Flames, she will play two qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. Lithuania are set to face Sweden in a double-header.

Suus Verdaasdonk will play for the Dutch Under-23s. The Dutch Under-23 squad will be in action twice. On Thursday 8 October, they will play a top-of-the-table clash against France. Four days later, the Netherlands will host the Scottish national team.
