Laura De Neve hangs up her boots

Laura De Neve

In two matches’ time, including a Belgian Cup final, Laura De Neve will officially bring her long and trophy-filled playing career to an end. Since joining the club in 2008, she has completed no fewer than seventeen successful seasons in Mauve. Captain of the team since the 2018-2019 season, Laura has won seven league titles, two Belgian Cups and one BeNe Cup. In 2021, she was also named Women’s Professional Footballer of the Year.

Laura De Neve will forever remain a legend of RSCA Women, as director Dave Mattheus also confirms: “For me, Laura is someone who has played an essential role in the success of our club’s women’s team and in women’s football in Belgium in general. She is a legend of RSCA Women who has always played for the club and the badge. She is the embodiment of loyalty to a club and an exemplary captain.”

“I wanted to end my career while still performing at a high level, and I have succeeded in doing so,” says Laura De Neve. “I have always stayed true to myself and to the club. I want to continue on that path in the future, because I have the honour of joining the sporting staff of RSCA Women. In that role, I will closely support the girls transitioning between the development squad and the first team, with the aim of helping as many players as possible prepare for the senior squad.”

Thank you for everything, Laura.
