"Stability is the essence"

Vincent Kompany announced tht almost the entire squad is available for the game against KV Mechelen. Benito Raman, who suffered some discomfort before the game against Standard, also trained the entire week. The coach praised the medical and sporting staff for their efforts. "Hats off to the people at the club who make sure we’re experiencing relatively quiet times, even in covid times.”

Asked about the transfer plans this winter, the coach insisted that stability is the key word. "Especially in the long term, the club has already indicated that squad stability is of great importance for the future. That is what are rivals have been working on as well."

The new role of Thomas Vermaelen, who will start work as an assistant coach with the Red Devils, also came up. "First of all: what a wonderful career he’s had. I have always sympathised with Thomas because he was often injured but always came back. He played for Barcelona, played very well at the last European Championship, ... In that respect, Thomas has been a great talent and an exemplary professional. As Roberto Martinez' assistant, he will learn a lot, but he will also be able to contribute a lot to the Red Devils. I cannot praise Thomas enough, on and off the field."
