The U12s finish first in the Christmas Truce Tournament

Our young players performed well, but above all they learned a great deal about the sacrifices made by their brave forefathers during the First World War.
Christmas Truce Tournament

The Christmas Truce Tournament is more than just a football tournament; it is a moving reminder of the sacrifices made during the First World War and an opportunity for young players to learn about history, camaraderie and the power of community through the prism of sport.

Held on 13 and 14 December at the KVK Westhoek facilities, this annual tournament offers U12 players the opportunity to showcase their talent against the best European clubs while gaining an understanding of the historical events that have shaped our world.

The tournament takes place in a region where, during the First World War, the legendary Christmas Truce took place on Christmas Day 1914, a spontaneous ceasefire during which soldiers from both sides played a football match together between the trenches.

In addition to the English clubs (Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Derby, Fulham, Leeds, Manchester United and Wolverhampton), four European clubs symbolised the nations that also fought in the Ypres region: RSCA, Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund and RC Strasbourg.

Finishing top of group B with Man United, Arsenal, Strasbourg, Derby County and Brighton & Hove, the Mauves eliminated Club Brugge in the semi-finals before winning to Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in the final (1-2).

Congratulations to our young players and their staff for this great result.
