Important victory in Charleroi (1-3)

On Sunday, the Mauves travelled to the Stade du Pays de Charleroi for the 25th matchday of the Pro League. The only change from last weekend's win over Gent was that Kasper Dolberg replaced Luis Vázquez up front. Killian Sardella, Thomas Delaney and Ludwig Augustinsson did not make the squad yet. RSC Anderlecht deservedly won 1-3 thanks to an own goal and goals from Kasper Dolberg and Luis Vázquez.

RSCA got off to a good start, with Thorgan Hazard's first heavy strike missing the target. Just a few minutes later, it was Thorgan Hazard's taunting cross, following a clever move involving Louis Patris and Mario Stroeykens, that forced defender Jules Van Cleemput to score into his own net: 0-1. The home side then got better into the game and put the pressure on, but did little to threaten Kasper Schmeichel's goal. On the half-hour mark, it was Thorgan Hazard again who took advantage of a quickly played throw-in to set up Kasper Dolberg perfectly, who made no mistake to score his eleventh league goal: 0-2. Just as the first half drew to a close, the Carolos pulled a goal back through Achraf Dari: 1-2 at the break.

In the second half, RSCA controlled the game well and there were no clear-cut chances for either side. Luis Vázquez and Théo Leoni replaced Kasper Dolberg and Yari Verschaeren on the hour mark. Referee Erik Lambrechts was also forced to make way for Laurent Willems after being hit in the face by a Thorgan Hazard clearance. This interruption did little to ignite a match that was already unfolding at a low tempo. Anders Dreyer almost took advantage of the first chance, but failed to score after rounding Hervé Koffi. However, the Dane forced a corner kick, which he took himself and which allowed Luis Vázquez to extend his lead with a superb, powerful flat-footed shot into the roof of the net: 1-3. In the thirteen minutes of stoppage time, Kasper Schmeichel had to pull off a fine save from a Nadhir Benbouali header. Victory sealed.

Three goals in Charleroi and three points back to Brussels.
