"Progression through team spirit and discipline"

On Thursday, the first match of the Croky Cup semi-final against Eupen awaits us. Coach Vincent Kompany looks ahead.

Apart from Antoine Colassin and Lucas Lissens, Hannes Delcroix will not be available for the cup match in Eupen. "We want to take it easy with Hannes. He is coming back from two long injuries, so I think that’s only normal", Kompany opened the discussions.

Thursday's game is the first of a double-bill against Eupen this week. On Sunday, RSCA take on the Pandas at the Lotto Park (season ticket holders can register here). Then on the 3rd of March, the Croky Cup return match will also be played at the Lotto Park. "Eupen possess a lot of intrinsic talent and have some quality players. They proved that in the beginning of the season. They are certainly a difficult opponent, especially in a Cup game. More than ever, we just need to keep the focus on our own team. We have to go for the win in Thursday's game, without thinking too much about the return game."

The coach was also asked about an altercation between Lior Refaelov and Wesley Hoedt at half-time during the game against Union. "It's in our nature as a team to discuss everything and that's positive. Lior and Wesley, they’re almost like a married couple (laughs). They live together day in and day out and they are leading figures with their own character. If something needs to be said, they say it. They will always do everything in the game to help their team, and in training that's all they do. They both have good intentions."

A statement from Benito Raman, who expressed over his playing time after the game against Union, was also discussed. "Benito made a mistake in the emotion. I did not wait to address him on that interview. We talked about it immediately and I appreciated his reaction. He apologized to the group and above all, Benito always gives 200 per cent in training and has often made the difference in matches. His attitude is very good, so I am not going to judge him on one statement now."

"In any case, today's Anderlecht needs discipline, team effort and sacrifices for the team. If we do all that, we'll keep making progress."
