"Efficiency comes with confidence"

Felice Mazzù

Coach Felice Mazzù took a seat in the press room the day ahead of the game against Zulte Waregem. Regarding the squad, Benito Raman, Julien Duranville and Marco Kana are still injured. On top of that, Hannes Delcroix and Killian Sardella are uncertain for tomorrow’s game as well.

After the 0-1 defeat against Club Brugge, the coach refused to give in to negativism. “The result is obviously disappointing. But the group is aware that the game against Club Brugge was one of the best performances this season. In terms of intensity, in terms of runs, in terms of verticality. We have to build on that. But of course there is a certain frustration when we are not rewarded with the points that we deserve and need.”

Mazzù wants to see the same attitude from his players, this Thursday against Zulte Waregem. "I will push the group to reach the same levels, because I am convinced that with the same intensity we will win this match." It was brought up in the press room that RSCA did manage to create many chances in the games it lost, against Charleroi and Club Brugge. Efficiency is perhaps the biggest issue. "I don't remember which coach said it this week, but it's hard to work on efficiency. Of course at training we work on attacking patterns and finishing, but efficiency mainly comes with confidence. And maybe we would have been more efficient against Bruges with goal-line technology in place (laughs). But in the end it was a decision from the referee and we have to respect that."

Kristian Arnstad's latest performances didn’t go unnoticed either. "Kristian is indeed making great progress. He is a real top professional. He also has the qualities not to succumb in games where things are not going as well or when sometimes we are dominated. He plays with confidence, with a lot of intensity and a lot of volume. He still has a lot of room for improvement, but we are satisfied with his progress."
