On Sunday afternoon, The Mauves host Club Brugge. Two days before the game, head coach Besnik Hasi looked ahead to the top clash at the Lotto Park. “We’ll have to be absolutely at our best to win,” said the coach during his press conference. A relaxed coach faced the media on Friday afternoon. Besnik Hasi can count on a fully fit squad, with just one exception. “Only César Huerta is unavailable,” he confirmed.

Our coach also watched Club Brugge’s match against Barcelona this week. “It was a very good game, Club played at a very high level.” But Hasi expects a completely different match on Sunday. “Barca had most of the ball, which made Club defend lower and hit on the transition - something they’re very strong at. In the league, they usually play higher up the pitch, but we’re prepared for every scenario.”

“We’ll have to be absolutely at our top level to get a result.”

At home, the Mauves want to approach the game with the right mentality. “The players are eager to show themselves in front of our fans. At the Park, we always find that little extra,” said the coach. “We have loyal supporters - as they showed once again in the sold-out cup game against Ninove - and that gives us a boost.” Still, Hasi knows it won’t be an easy task. “We’ll have to be absolutely at our top level to get a result.”

To finish the clash on a winning note, the Mauves will have to maintain their good spells throughout the full ninety minutes. “It’s all about progress - when that comes, the points will follow.” Sporting currently sit third in the table, ten points behind Union and seven behind Club Brugge. “So far, our performances haven’t been consistent enough. That’s why we’re still playing catch-up in the league.”

A match against Club Brugge is always special for the Mauves - this time is no different. The coach, however, doesn’t want to talk about odds or percentages beforehand. “I was a good student at school,” he smiled, “but probability calculations were never my strength.”

Kick-off for the clash is on Sunday at 1:30 PM at the Lotto Park.
