Nia Elyn (20) has signed a three-year contract with RSCA. The strong central defender was captain of KAA Gent Ladies and received a call-up this year for the Red Flames’ Nations League matches.

Nia earned her reputation at the heart of the defence through strong performances with the Buffalo’s, where she had been active since the summer of 2021. These performances led to national team call-ups for both the U19 and U23 squads. Nia has a Swedish mother who grew up in Madagascar, but she chose to represent Belgium.

In April, she received her first call-up to the Red Flames for the Nations League matches against England. Nia studies Psychology at Ghent University and also hosts her own podcast about women’s football.

Dave Mattheus, Director RSCA Women:

“Nia Elyn is a right-footed central defender, mainly known for her physical strength. Despite her young age, she had already been captain at KAA Gent for some time and has played many matches for Belgium’s U23 team. We are very pleased that she has signed a three-year contract in the capital.”

Nia Elyn:

“The club is ambitious and wants to win trophies, which is something I’m very eager to contribute to. The professional environment and guidance immediately appealed to me. For me, this is the right moment to take the next step and fully focus on my development.”
