On the last matchday of the season, the Mauves are traveling to KRC Genk. A clash at the Cegeka Arena between the third and fourth in the standings. “Both teams have collected 10 points in these Champions’ Play-offs,” noted Besnik Hasi during his press talk. “If you look at the matches in the Champions’ Play-offs, we’re tied for third place,” analyzed Besnik Hasi in the final press conference of the season. “Of course, we wanted to do better, but we didn’t pick up enough points against Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge.” The coach of the Mauves had a clear explanation for this. “In the opening match at Club, we were nowhere. In the two following matches, we also struggled to make the difference. Afterwards, we reached a decent level, but not against the two top teams, who were more efficient than us.”

Naturally, the coach’s future at the club came up. “Those who know me know how I operate. I’m still under contract until May 30 and I’m focused on our performances on the pitch. Together with the sporting department, we regularly discuss what can be improved and what this team lacks.” No word yet on his longer-term future. “It’s up to them to decide which direction they want to take the club, but that will be after the season ends.” A busy transfer window is expected in the capital, but rumors about possible successors don’t affect him. “This is RSC Anderlecht, so there will always be rumors,” said Hasi calmly.

How does the coach assess his own work at the club so far? “We’ve created a certain stability within the team, and some players have started performing better during the short time I’ve been here.” Hasi also had to deal with many absences in his squad. “We did have quite a few injuries, even during the play-offs, but that’s no excuse. You always have to be tough on yourself.” On Sunday, the Mauves have one last chance to finish the season with a win. “The club is working hard behind the scenes to build a close-knit team. The key will be to properly support young players like Kanaté, De Cat, and Degreef. If they are well surrounded, they can play an important role for the club in the future,” said the coach.
