Omar Sarr (18 years old – 06/01/2008) joins RSCA Futures during this winter transfer window. He has signed a contract with Sporting until 2030. The defensive midfielder arrives from Diambars FC, a professional Senegalese club based at the Diambars Institute in Saly, a town on the southern coast of Dakar. This academy has previously produced players such as defender Kara Mbodj, who went on to build a career in European football and also played at the heart of RSC Anderlecht’s defense.
Omar Sarr is an efficient player who keeps things simple by winning the ball in front of the defense and distributing it quickly. This defensive midfielder, with great stamina, is not afraid to operate in the shadow of more technically gifted players. After first representing Senegal’s U17 team, he was quickly promoted to the U20s, with whom he participated in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. Last season, he was named among the eleven best players in Senegal.
