Joël Kana (18) has signed his first professional contract with the Mauves. The young midfielder, who can also play as a central defender and right-back, made his debut this season for the RSCA Futures against RWDM. The cheerful Joël has signed a contract until 2028.

On February 12, 2025, the defender played his first minutes in professional football. In the Brussels derby against RWDM, he was brought on by coach Jelle Coen. A dream come true for Joël, especially because he got to share the pitch with his older brother Marco. “Making my professional debut and sharing this moment with my brother is a huge honor,” Joël said afterward. “My ultimate dream is, of course, to play alongside Marco in the first team.”

Joël started his career in the RSCA youth academy before moving to OH Leuven. In 2023, the central defender returned to Neerpede. He then joined the Mauves’ Purple Talents program, continued his education at the GO! Campus in Wemmel, and will graduate at the end of this school year. Joël is now also being rewarded on a sporting level with his first professional contract at RSCA.

Tim Borguet, Chief Academy:

“Joël is a true Kana: his discipline and mentality, both on and off the pitch, reflect exemplary professionalism. He is a solid, dedicated, and hard-working defender. It’s now up to him to take the next step and show the full extent of his abilities.”

Congratulations, Joël.
