On Thursday afternoon, Besnik Hasi was officially presented as the new head coach of Anderlecht. “I’m very happy to be here, and I want to help the club of my heart improve,” coach Besnik opened his press conference. “The timing may be surprising to some, but in my experience, there is never a perfect moment for such a decision. With this change, we want to bring new energy to the club,” explained Olivier Renard regarding the coaching transition.

“As you may have read this morning, we have decided to part ways with David Hubert,” sporting director Olivier Renard began. “This decision was made based on the quality of our recent performances, which had been a concern for me, especially with the Champions’ Play-offs approaching. I was convinced that we needed to act—not just to participate in the Play-offs but to remain competitive in every match.”

“David has done a great job, and we want to thank him for that,” Renard continued. “We offered him the opportunity to stay on as an assistant, but he wasn’t interested in that role, which I completely understand. Under David, we had somewhat lost our rhythm lately. We were seeing less and less of the style of play we want to bring to the pitch, and that worried me,” the sporting director clarified. “I’m happy that Besnik—who needs no introduction—is sitting next to me today. At Mechelen, he also showcased some great football.”

"My priority is to quickly bring success back to this team”

Besnik Hasi started with a clear message: “I’m very happy to be here. When I was asked if I wanted to take over until the end of the season, I was, of course, very honored. I want to help the club of my heart improve, both in terms of playing style and results.” Everything moved quickly for RSCA’s new coach. “Yesterday morning, I sat down with the management, and we discussed all the details. That’s when the club made the decision to give me this opportunity until the end of the season.”

Besnik’s focus: performing well in the Play-offs and preparing for the cup final. “The next two and a half months are crucial. My priority is to quickly bring success back to this team.” Given the quality within RSCA, the new head coach believes the club must do better. “We all share responsibility—players and staff alike. I think there is a real urgency to win something,” Besnik Hasi concluded.
