On Thursday evening, the Mauves won 1-3 after a very tense game on the pitch of KRC Genk in the quarter-finals of the Belgian Cup.
Although they were trailing at half-time, Besnik Hasi’s men equalised near the end of the second half thanks to a goal by Adriano Bertaccini. They made the difference in the thirty extra minutes with goals from Thorgan Hazard (from the penalty spot) and Ibrahim Kanaté.
The draw for the quarter-finals took place right after the match. Sporting will face KAA Gent at home between 13 and 15 January 2026. If they eliminate the Buffalos, they will meet Antwerp or La Louvière in the semi-finals, played over two legs (starting at home).
