KV Kortrijk 2-2 RSCA

Sporting travelled to Kortrijk for the second game of the week, after the Conference League game against Ludogorets. Three new faces made their appearance in the starting XI: Benito Raman, Lior Refaelov and Majeed Ashimeru started the game. The Mauves drew 2-2 against Kortrijk in a game with many chances.

The start of the game was for RSCA, with good chances for both Slimani and Raman. The biggest chance was for Benito Raman, when he got the ball from Islam Slimani after a good attack which started with Amir Murillo. Goalkeeper Vandenberghe saved. The home team then grew in the match, creating chances for D'Haene, Gueye and Selemani. But Sportig, too, created more chances. And after a corner taken by Lior Refaelov, the ball was layed of by Majeed Ashimeru to Anders Dreyer, who beautifully blasted the ball in the upper left corner from outside the box. 0-1 at half-time.

In the second half, Kortrijk took more and more control of the game. They managed to equalize quickly on a counter attack on a corner for Sporting. Bilal Messaoudi rushed towards Bart Verbruggen who managed to save his initial attempt, but the ball landed in the feet of Abdelkahar Kadri who made it 1-1. And the home team even took the lead, when Joao Silva was left alone on the second post after a corner. Sporting pushed through to equalize and managed to do so when Amir Murillo took advantage of miscommunication between Kristof D'Haene and the home goalkeeper. 2-2, with just enough time for subbed-on Francis Amuzu to give a good center to Islam Slimani in the box, but he didn't manage to head the three points home. Final result: a reasonable 2-2 draw in Kortrijk.
