KAA Gent 1-0 RSCA

This Sunday evening, RSCA headed to the Ghelamco Arena to take on KAA Gent. Brian Riemer opted for the same 11 as last week at the Lotto Park. After a game with 10 against 11 in the end, Sporting lost to the ‘Buffalos’.

Gent started the match well, the danger came from Gift Orban and a shot by Hugo Cuypers struck the post. Anderlecht came back in the game immediately. After good work by Islam Slimani and Anders Dreyer, Yari Verschaeren's long-distance shot was saved on the goal line by Kamil Piatkowski. Purple and White then got better and better into the game and gradually took control. Anders Dreyer's cross reached Amadou Diawara, but his effort was blocked by goalkeeper Paul Nardi. It was the Buffaloes who claimed the last chance of the first half, Hugo Cuypers hitting the post again.

Ten minutes into the second half, a shot by Gift Orban hit the top corner: 1-0. Anderlecht had to chase. Anders Dreyer then forced a good save from goalkeeper Paul Nardi after a good pass from Amir Murillo. With twenty minutes to go, Moussa N'Diaye and Lior Refaelov came on to replace Killian Sardella and Majeed Ashimeru. Fifteen minutes before time, Amadou Diawara had to leave the pitch after a second yellow card. Brian Riemer tried to turn the tide with Raman, Arnstad and Angulo, but it remained 1-0 after 90 minutes of play. Next week RSCA hosts Villareal CF (Conference League) on Thursday and Cercle Brugge on Sunday at Lotto Park. Two very important duels.
