"We have to make the difference against Genk"

Sunday's game against KRC Genk will be an exciting one. Coach Kompany is looking forward to an atmospheric Lotto Park, but is also happy with the return of the visiting supporters. "A match without visiting supporters does not give me the same feeling. Now it is up to Genk first, but I am happy that our supporters will be able to travel with us again from next weekend."

The coach acknowledged that Genk have a lot of quality. "On paper, I think it is one of the best squads in Belgium, in terms of quality. But we’re focussing, as always, on our own strengths and our performance. I'm expecting a great game, and of course a victory."

"It's true that we haven't always been able to turn those top games to our advantage in terms of results, but those games also came at a different time in the season. We played well against teams like Club Brugge, Gent and Genk. But we have to make the difference on Sunday.”

The coach also spoke about the new number of Yari Verschaeren, who will play with the number 10 for the first time this Sunday. “It’s not just about Yari. It’s good to evolve from a number in the youth teams to a number in the A-team. Hannes Delcroix and Francis Amuzu also got numbers 3 and 7 at the beginning of this season . Players can claim those numbers, but they have to earn it and they have to stay with Anderlecht long enough. It's not a question of talent, the decision is based on their merits for the team. It started with Hannes, Francis and now Yari, but I'm already looking at all our other talents to eventually claim these kind of numbers."
