RSC Anderlecht deeply regrets and strongly condemns the incidents that took place in blocks C & D during the cup final. These incidents cast a shadow over what was otherwise a fantastic atmosphere in the other stands on our side.
In the coming days, the club will work with the city’s authorities and the match organisers, the Belgian federation and the Pro League, to identify and sanction those responsible.
On Friday morning, 20 stewards and the club’s security staff were already engaged in cleaning the stands.
Various precautionary measures had also been taken in advance, such as a thorough sweep of the stands and protection of the athletics track surrounding the pitch.
Unfortunately, the club has taken note of the fact that a group forced their way into blocks C & D, after which the incidents occurred. The club will therefore insist on an evaluation of the security measures with the organizational authorities of this match, the Belgian federation and the Pro League.
