Over the coming weeks, the football world’s attention will be focused on the World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico. Nevertheless, preparations for the new club season are already well underway. Read more about pre-season, the European qualifying rounds and the Jupiler Pro League.
First training session on June 22
The players will return to training on Monday, June 22. A few days later, the first pre-season friendly is already scheduled: the Mauves will travel to Sporting Hasselt on Saturday, June 27. More information about additional friendly matches will be communicated at a later date.
European campaign starts in the second qualifying round
This season, RSC Anderlecht will compete in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. Sporting must come through three qualifying rounds to reach the League Phase: the second qualifying round, the third qualifying round and the play-off round.
If eliminated from the Europa League, RSCA will drop into the next round of the UEFA Conference League. Therefore, to reach the league stage of a European competition, the Mauves must win at least two of their three European qualifying ties.
The draw for the second qualifying round of the Europa League will take place on Wednesday, June 17. RSC Anderlecht will be seeded in the draw. Potential opponents currently include Sheriff Tiraspol, Dynamo Kyiv, Beşiktaş, FC Twente, Hajduk Split, Tromsø, FC St. Gallen, CSKA Sofia and Hammarby. UEFA may still divide the clubs into smaller draw groups before the draw takes place.
The first and second legs of the second qualifying round will be played on Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, July 30.
