Ahead of the match against PAOK, Mauves supporters laid flowers at the Greek memorial monument in tribute to the victims. The statue commemorating the seven PAOK supporters who passed away in a road accident in January is located behind one of the goals at Toumba Stadium. The initiative was led by the president of supporters’ club New Saint-Guidon.
The tragedy took place on 27 January this year. Seven young fans aged between 28 and 30 were travelling to France in a minibus to attend their club’s Europa League match against Lyon when tragedy struck. Their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a truck. An event that left the PAOK community - and the entire football world - mourning.
The Greek club decided to install a statue at their own stadium in memory of their seven supporters. Ahead of the first leg against PAOK, RSCA fans visited the memorial and laid a purple-and-white wreath in tribute.
