RSCA Women have reached the Belgian Cup final for the second consecutive year. On Sunday afternoon, the Mauves won 2-4 away at Club YLA in the semi-finals. A stunning strike by Vătafu and goals from Icelanders Bjarnadóttir and Kristjánsdóttir secured qualification. In the cup final, RSCA will face Zulte Waregem on May 30 at the Easi Arena, the home ground of RAAL La Louvière.
After a good win in the round of 16 against KVK Ninove (7-0), KAA Gent Ladies were the next hurdle in the cup run of the Mauves. At the Lotto Park, Sporting qualified by beating the Ghent side 2–1.
The semi-final featured a top clash, with RSCA Women taking on Club YLA. Andrea Bjarnadóttir opened the scoring in the first half for the Mauves, and Ștefania Vătafu doubled the lead with a superb strike into the top corner.
After the break, Vigdis Kristjánsdóttir, RSCA’s other Icelandic forward, made it 0-3. After the hosts pulled one back to 1–3, Kristjánsdóttir scored her second goal of the afternoon. Club YLA later made it 2-4.
Following the impressive victory away at Club YLA, RSCA Women have reached the Belgian Cup final for the second year in a row. On the synthetic turf pitch of the Easi Arena, the Mauves will face Zulte Waregem on May 30. More information about ticket sales will follow later.
