The league is on a short winter break, but training will resume. The Mauves will spend part of the winter break in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Besnik Hasi’s men, currently fourth after twenty league matches, will use a week in Andalusia to prepare for the second half of the season. The first challenge of the new year comes on 15 January, when RSCA host KAA Gent in the quarter-finals of the Belgian Cup.
The Mauves have opted for a winter camp under the Spanish sun. This year, the squad heads to Jerez de la Frontera, near Cádiz, to prepare in optimal conditions. During the camp, Sporting will play a friendly match against FC St.Gallen 1879, who are currently second in the Swiss league. The match will be played on 7 January at 2:30 pm and will be broadcast live on Mauve TV.
