MD1: Club Brugge Away
The Mauves traveled to Bruges on the opening matchday of the Champions’ Play-offs, the first match under the guidance of our new head coach. On a sun-drenched Jan Breydel pitch, things unfortunately did not go as planned for Besnik Hasi’s men.
MD2: KRC Genk at Home
On matchday 2 of the Champions’ Play-offs, the Mauves hosted KRC Genk. After a strong start, it was the team from Limburg who took the lead. Besnik Hasi’s men fought their way back into the game in the second half, but the visitors snatched all three points at the death in the Park.
MD3: Union Saint-Gilloise Away
The Brussels derby. On Saturday evening, Sporting travelled to the Marien Stadium for the clash with Union Saint-Gilloise. It was a fierce battle with their neighbours, in which Besnik Hasi’s men performed better than in previous weeks but struggled to create real goal threats, ultimately ending in another bitter defeat.
MD4: Antwerp FC at Home
On Easter Sunday, a crucial clash in the race for European spots was on the agenda. In a roaring Lotto Park, RSCA and RAFC both went in search of three vital points. Despite a strong final push from the Mauves, Sporting had to settle for a goalless draw.
MD5: KAA Gent at Home
The last match of the first round of the Champions’ Play-offs. The clash against KAA Gent was crucial in the battle for the European spots. Besnik Hasi’s men defeated the Buffaloes at home with a 5-0 victory, with Kasper Dolberg playing a starring role.
MD6: KAA Gent Away
On Matchday 6, the Mauves travelled to Ghent. After the strong midweek performance against the Buffalo's, RSCA aimed to keep the momentum going. Leander Dendoncker secured the victory for Sporting and dedicated his goal to his newborn daughter.
MD7: Antwerp FC Away
Just days before the cup final, Anderlecht faced a tough test away at Antwerp. Two youngsters led the way at the Bosuil. Goals from Keisuke Goto and Nathan De Cat guided RSCA past the Great Old. Ten out of twelve points for Besnik Hasi’s men.
MD8: Union Saint-Gilloise at Home
On matchday 8, Anderlecht hosted their neighbours from Saint-Gilles. In a heated Brussels derby, RSCA avoided an early setback. A goal from Mohammed Fuseini decided the match before halftime in Union’s favour. No fourth straight win for Sporting.
MD9: Club Brugge at Home
The big clash was all about Jan Vertonghen. Belgium’s most-capped international was honoured before kickoff. However, Sporting couldn’t give their captain a parting gift, despite a fine goal from Mario Stroeykens.
