Our central defender, who is hoping to add a fourth cup and a third league title to her impressive career, has decided to retire from football at the end of this season.
Silke Vanwynsberghe joined RSCA Women in the summer of 2022. She began her career at Lierse SK (2013–2016) and then moved to KAA Gent (2016–2022). At those clubs, she won the Belgian Cup three times, but the league title remained elusive — something she came to the capital to chase.
That dream came true quickly with a title in her very first season in purple and white, followed by a second title the following year. After 80 matches, five goals, and five assists in our colours, the Belgian international — who earned seven caps for the Red Flames — has decided to end her sporting career at the conclusion of this season.
“For 23 years, I’ve had the privilege to practice the most beautiful hobby in the world. It’s truly an honour to be able to end my career here. Words can’t express how proud I am to have worn these colours. How proud I am to have surrounded myself with the very best players”, said Silke Vanwynsberghe.
RSCA would like to thank Silke Vanwynsberghe for the three wonderful years she spent at Neerpede. The club wishes her all the best in her future endeavours, and of course, lots of joy and success in her final six matches in purple and white.
