On Sunday 4 May, Club Brugge and RSCA faced off at the King Baudouin Stadium in a highly anticipated Belgian Cup final. A first-half goal from Romeo Vermant proved decisive. Club Brugge kicked off the match in a roaring King Baudouin Stadium. Ferran Jutglà got the first chance early on after a long throw-in was flicked on—his volley went just wide. Around the 15-minute mark, we saw the first shot on target: Christos Tzolis struck a powerful effort at Colin Coosemans, who parried it. Five minutes later, the Greek forward tried again from just outside the box, but his low shot went wide. Sporting grew into the game, helped by the fluid play of Thorgan Hazard. Just before the half-hour, he cut inside brilliantly but was stopped at the last moment before he could pull the trigger. At the other end, Ardon Jashari tried his luck from distance, but Coosemans pushed the ball away. Shortly after, Vermant opened the scoring. The Club Brugge striker tapped in a whipped cross from Hugo Siquet at the far post. Just before half-time, Jashari had a chance to double the lead, but the Swiss midfielder couldn’t capitalise. As a result, RSCA went into the break trailing by one.

Besnik Hasi kept faith in his team and made no changes at half-time. It was Sporting who tested the goalkeeper first. Jan-Carlo Simic dribbled forward and played a good ball out wide. Samuel Edozie beat Siquet and delivered a cross into the box. His deflected effort almost ended up in the net: Nordin Jackers had to tip it over for a corner. On the hour mark, Edozie again cut inside, but his shot rose too quickly and flew over. Moments later, Romeo Vermant doubled the lead for Club, tapping in a driven cross from Tzolis. Hasi reacted with a triple substitution: Nilson Angulo, Mario Stroeykens and Jan Vertonghen came on. The Mauves immediately threatened twice—first with a powerful free kick from Leander Dendoncker that was punched away by Jackers. Then came a chaotic phase in front of Club’s goal: the ball lingered dangerously in the six-yard box, but no one managed to put it away. Substitute Angulo had another good chance, but blasted it high over the bar. In the first minute of added time (6 minutes were given), Luis Vázquez pulled one back for Sporting, but the equaliser never came. The match ended 2-1, and RSCA’s tenth cup triumph slipped away.
