On Thursday, July 24, the new season kicks off for the Mauves. Besnik Hasi’s team will host Swedish side BK Häcken at home. It’s an important early test, as the coach himself admits: “Qualifying for European football is important, both financially and for the image of the club.” Watch Hasi’s full press conference, now available on Mauve TV.

The day before the match, Besnik Hasi spoke to the media for the first time this season. He began with an update on the availability of his players. “We’ll need a bit more patience with Camara. Simic took a knock against Rakow and will be sidelined for a while.” The match against BK Häcken also comes too soon for Hatenboer. “Cedric missed most of the preparation and won’t be available.”

There was also some good news for the coach. Maamar, who had been ill, will take part in the final training session before the match. “If that goes well, he’ll be in the squad,” Hasi confirmed. Coosemans, who will wear the captain’s armband this season in place of Jan Vertonghen, is also set to play.

"At RSC Anderlecht, there is always pressure to perform."

The coach also shared his first thoughts on the transfer market so far. “Looking at the signings made, you can see the club has followed a clear scouting vision. We know these players will need time to adapt.” Hasi is satisfied with the work already done. “Even though we haven’t sold anyone yet, we’ve still managed to bring in some players. We’ll see what further opportunities arise in the market.”

What does Hasi want to see from his renewed team tomorrow? “We’ve worked hard on intensity during the preparation. I want to see that new dynamic we’re aiming to implement, and clear patterns in both possession and transitions.” The coach knows it won’t be an easy game. “BK Häcken is a team that always looks to play football and has a recognizable style. They’ve got a good mix of experience and young, fast players. Their wingers and forwards make dangerous runs in behind.”

But Hasi sees no room for excuses. “European football is important to us, financially and in terms of the club’s image. At RSCA, there is always pressure to perform. We won’t hide behind excuses. We’re ready - and we want to show that,” said Besnik, looking forward to the season opener. “I’ve had good European moments with RSCA in the past. I remember some great European nights at the Park, both as a player and as a coach.”

Kick-off: Thursday evening at 8 PM at the Lotto Park. The match will be broadcasted exclusively on Mauve TV, the full pre-match press conference is now available.
