Gassimou Sylla (16) commits his future to RSCA. The young forward signed his first contract last summer, running until June 2026. Now, he has extended his stay with the club until 2028.
Sylla joined the Mauves youth academy in Neerpede in 2018, after a season with RSCA Heysel. Since then, he’s impressed with his positioning and finishing ability. He is also comfortable playing in multiple attacking roles.
The versatile Gassimou signed his first professional contract in July last year and gained valuable experience with the RSCA Futures this past season. Born in Belgium with Guinean roots, he also plays for the Belgian U17 national team, where he has already scored four goals - including a hat-trick against the Netherlands.
Sylla scored in his very first professional match for Sporting, back in August against KMSK Deinze. “Honestly, I didn’t expect it,” he recalls. “When I scored, I was happy. I immediately thought of my parents and looked over to my dad on the side. You could tell he was proud of me.”
In total, Sylla scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 17 matches for the RSCA Futures. His hard work is now rewarded with a new contract running until 2028.
Sylla after signing his new deal:
“I’m incredibly proud to sign here again. It feels like a reward for all the hard work I’ve put in this year. I hope I can continue on this path.”
Congratulations, Gassimou.
