Fight for second place until final matchday

After a 1-0 defeat in Gent, the Purple & White will have to fight for second place until the final matchday. Efficiency was crucial once again. Because of the 1-1 draw between Standard and Club Brugge, the team from West-Flanders are now sure of their fifteenth title, Standard will start the final matchday with two points on the Purple & White on Sunday.

Andy Najar and Lazar Markovic had to pass for the match against KAA Gent because of injuries, Adrien Trebel was suspended. Added to that, Kenny Saief received an injury in the first fifteen minutes and had to leave the pitch. At that point, Matz Sels had already made two great saves, on the other side Teodorczyk had tried to score with a bicycle kick and a heel. The Purple & White took the lead, but the board still showed a 0-0 score at half-time.

The team from Gent started the second half better and , after 66 minutes, scored via Moses Simon after a sharp counter. RSCA were not able to threaten Kalinic, only substitute Ganvoula missed with a header. In the final stages of the match, a far chip by Kubo went long, but that was all that happened. The Purple & White will have to leave the title to Club Brugge for sure, and will fight for second place against KRC Genk at home next Sunday.
