Pre-season preparations are in full swing. Vítor Bruno’s squad spent the past week training at the Proximus Basecamp in Tubize, where they will take on Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in a friendly on Saturday 11 July at 10:45. One final friendly follows on Wednesday before the Mauves face Hammarby IF in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. Both friendlies and the European qualifiers against Hammarby will be streamed live on Mauve TV.
The road to the UEFA Europa League League Phase is a long one. The Mauves must overcome three qualifying rounds, starting with Swedish side Hammarby IF, currently second in the Allsvenskan after 12 matches. The first leg will be played in Stockholm on Thursday 23 July, with the return leg taking place a week later at the Lotto Park on Thursday 30 July.
Before Sporting begin their European campaign, they will first play two pre-season friendlies. On Saturday 11 July at 10:45, they face NEC Nijmegen. Next Wednesday (15 July at 18:30), the Mauves will play their final pre-season fixture away from home.
