With the arrival of Lukas Ambros, the Mauves have completed their third summer signing. The 22-year-old central midfielder from the Czech Republic joins RSC Anderlecht from Polish side Górnik Zabrze. In his first interview, Lukas talks about his choice for RSCA, his attacking style of play, and his role as a communicative link within the team.
Welcome to RSC Anderlecht, Lukas. How are you feeling?
"Very good, thank you. I’m happy to be signing for this great club today."
Why did you choose RSCA?
"Because it is a great club, the biggest club in Belgium. The club is also well-known across Europe, so it feels like a huge honour to be part of it. RSCA has clear ambitions, and I want to achieve those ambitions together with this club."
How would you describe yourself as a player?
"I am an attacking-minded player who likes to play attractive football. I am comfortable on the ball and perform best in a team that likes to dominate possession. I see myself as a creative player within the team, someone who can create chances for myself and for others. I simply want to win."
Who is Lukas on the pitch?
"On the pitch, I am simply myself. I always give one hundred percent. I try to enjoy the game, but of course I also want to win every match. That is what I try to show on the pitch."
And off the pitch?
"I think everyone knows me as a friendly and sociable person. Since I have spoken several languages from a young age, I am often a go-between or a point of contact for others. I enjoy that role as a communicative link within a team. Besides that, I like to keep things calm with my girlfriend and my dogs. I enjoy feeling comfortable and making the most of my free time."
How many languages do you speak?
"Four: English, German, Polish and Czech."
What do you hope to contribute to the team?
"As I said, I think I can help the team with my creativity. I am a player who always wants the ball and tries to make himself available for his teammates. I want to contribute by creating chances, providing assists and scoring goals."
From next season onwards, you will be wearing Mauve & White. How does that feel?
"Great. The new adidas shirt is actually beautiful. Purple is my favourite colour from now on." (laughs)
What do you hope to achieve at RSCA?
"In the long term, I obviously want to compete for trophies here and win titles. Besides that, I simply want to win every match and try to make the difference for the team with goals and assists."
