The first team resumed training this week in preparation for the new season. This Friday, several players who played or trained with their national teams during the international break have also joined, such as Ali Maamar, Joshua Nga Kana, and Jayden Onia Seke. César Huerta and Nathan Saliba are still active at the World Cup with Mexico and Canada respectively.
Ilay Camara and Lucas Hey sustained a minor fracture at the start of the training week and must undergo a medical procedure. The exact period of unavailability will become clear after the procedure.
Initially, a first friendly match against Sporting Hasselt was scheduled for Saturday. The new head coach, Vítor Bruno, who was appointed along with his staff on Wednesday, prefers to focus first on the integration and implementation of his playing principles with the squad — which also includes the players who only joined on Friday. Therefore, the friendly match against Sporting Hasselt on Saturday will not take place. A new date to play this match was sought, but unfortunately, that proved to be impossible.
RSC Anderlecht will provide financial compensation to Sporting Hasselt for the cancellation of this match, after which Sporting Hasselt will in turn reimburse their supporters who had purchased a ticket. RSC Anderlecht will, of course, also refund the tickets of our own supporters.
