A tribute to 1976: discover the new away shirt

AWAY

Fifty years ago, RSC Anderlecht made football history. In the European Cup Winners’ Cup final, the Mauves defeated West Ham United 4-2 to secure the club’s first-ever European trophy. That victory marked the beginning of an era in which RSCA left its mark on European football, wearing the iconic white shirts and purple shorts. Half a century later, the iconic white shirt with purple stripes returns.

On 5 May 1976, the Heysel Stadium hosted the European Cup Winners’ Cup final between RSC Anderlecht and West Ham United. In front of 50,000 spectators, most of them Brussels locals with a passion for ‘Les Mauve et Blanc’, Swat Van der Elst and Robbie Rensenbrink led RSCA to its first European trophy. It was the start of a successful era for RSC Anderlecht on the European stage.

White shirts with purple stripes

Fifty years after RSCA’s first European triumph, the iconic white shirts with purple stripes are back. Paired with purple shorts and purple socks, just like in 1976. The adidas Trefoil and the retro crest on the chest are a tribute to the shirts in which the Mauve and White lifted their first European trophy. For the first time ever, main partner Sunweb appears in purple on the shirt, paying tribute to the clean aesthetic of the 1970s.
