RSCA 0-0 Westerlo

On Sunday afternoon, Purple and White hosted KV Westerlo for the 32nd matchday of the Jupiler Pro League. A win would have been good in the battle for the play-offs, but Sporting had to settle for a point.

It was Westerlo that signed for the first effort through Nacer Chadli. An effort from Edisson Jordanov followed, but he didn’t manage to find the net. Anderlecht responded on the half-hour mark, but Benito Raman's shot just missed the target. A little later, Francis Amuzu saw his shot stopped by goalkeeper Sinan Bolat.

RSC Anderlecht started the second half well and Kristian Arnstad almost beat Sinan Bolat. KVC Westerlo replied with Nacer Chadli (later flagged for offside) whose effort was well blocked by Zeno Debast. Majeed Ashimeru then tried a nice individual move, but Roman Neudstaedler intervened at the last moment. Islam Slimani came onto the pitch 20 minutes before time, a little later Nacer Chadli got a nice tribute from his former fans when he was subbed off.

Sinan Bolat then stopped a header by Jan Vertonghen and a free kick by Maxime De Cuyper ended up over the crossbar. Bart Verbruggen had pull out sole decent saves in the closing minutes. The young goalkeeper was the 'Man of the Match' and brilliantly saved attempts by Thomas Van Den Keybus and Igor Vetokele. Lukas Van Eenoo and Nene Dorgeles also saw their attempts end up on the crossbar. Mario Stroeykens took his chance in the closing minutes, but his shot went just wide of the post.
