RSCA 2-2 Standard

On Sunday night, Sporting hosted Standard at Lotto Park for the Clasico. Zeno Debast came back between the lines after his absence in the European qualifier against Ludogorets, Amir Murillo also started again in his familiar position. Sporting got a goal behind early on but pulled back the sheet in the first half. It went up and over Standard, but had to be satisfied with just a point at the end.

The Rouches took an early lead thanks to Noah Ohio. He got the ball at his feet after an unlucky clearance from Anders Dreyer. Sporting countered with Dreyer and Verschaeren, but Arnaud Bodart was able to prevent the 1-1 each time. After half an hour, the Mauves managed to turn the situation around completely. First, Amadou Diawara sent Francis Amuzu deep, and the latter was taken down in the sixteen. Penalty, converted by Islam Slimani. And moments later, Slimani again put RSCA ahead. Ciske with the assist, 2-1 at half-time.

The first chance after half-time came courtesy of Philip Zinckernagel. For Sporting, it was Verschaeren and Ashimeru who had chances, but without success. Moments later, the ball disappeared into the net twice for RSC Anderlecht, but twice the goalscorers were offside. No hat-trick for Slimani. The only remaining goal of the match fell at the other end. Against the run of play, Standard made it 2-2 after an unfortunate own goal by Killian Sardella. One point only for purple and white, in a hard-fought Clasico.
