On Monday evening, the Pro League inducted Rob Rensenbrink – an eternal legend of Sporting – into its Hall of Fame. The “snake man” is an undisputed icon of RSC Anderlecht. Robbie is considered the greatest left winger the club has ever known. He was one of the key architects behind RSCA’s first major successes on the European stage and also a global star with the Dutch national team.

At the Astrid Park, Robbie scored 199 goals in 349 matches. He won the Golden Shoe in 1976 and finished twice on the Ballon d’Or podium (second in 1975 behind Beckenbauer and third in 1978 behind Keegan). His unmatched technique, elegance, and exceptional eye for goal fascinated supporters of the Mauves and football fans around the world for years.

We are extremely proud that such a player wore our colours from 1971 to 1980. Robbie won two league titles, four domestic cups, two European Cup Winners’ Cups, and two UEFA Super Cups with RSCA. He also earned 46 caps for the Netherlands, with the highlights being the (unfortunately lost) World Cup finals in Germany (1974) and Argentina (1978).

Honours with RSC Anderlecht:

  • Belgian Champion in 1972 and 1974
  • Belgian Cup winner in 1972, 1973, 1975 and 1976
  • Cup Winners’ Cup in 1976 and 1978
  • UEFA Super Cup in 1976 and 1978
  • League top scorer in 1973
  • Belgian Golden Shoe winner in 1976
