"Waasland-Beveren more than Morioka"

Tomorrow, Wednesday 24 January, RSC Anderlecht will receive the Waasland-Beveren of Purple & White players on loan Davy Roef and Isaac Kiese Thelin at the Astridpark. During the press conference the day before the game, coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck talked about the match against the number eight in the Jupiler Pro League.

"Too bad that Sofiane Hanni will not be present because of yellow suspension, because he has often been decisive for us the past few weeks", Vanhaezebrouck opened. "Statistically speaking, he is the most decisive player in the league, I think I’ve read this somewhere. The others now have to show what they can do without him. Pieter Gerkens and Frank Boeckx will have to wait and see. Gerkens was not able to participate in all of the exercises yet on training, and Boeckx is not ready yet either. The medical staff will follow up on them."

Vanhaezebrouck knows that the Waaslanders are playing a good season. "Waasland-Beveren is more than Ryota Morioka alone. Angban is also a good player and with Boljevic and Ampomah they have a lot of speed on the wings, as a result of which Kiese Thelin can take advantage of the space created. They are one point away from Play-Off I, this means something. Whether I am concerned that we’ve had no extra transfers? No, we are taking it day by day with the group we have. Of course it’s better for a player to arrive on 1 January instead of on 31 January or not, but I am happy that Kenny Saief has arrived. We can use someone in the offensive department, now that we’ve let Harbaoui and Beric go and Onyekuru had become injured."
