For the second seasonin a row, our women participate in the UEFA Women's Champions League. Last year they missed out on the round of 16 due to... the goal average. Come and support our Women to make sure they make that extra goal that qualifies them!
In total, 66 teams participate in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. 22 directly enter the round of 16. The other 40 teams are divided into 10 groups of 4 teams each. The group winner proceeds to the round of 16. This qualifying round takes place from the 7th until the 13th of August.
RSC Anderlecht has been assigned by the UEFA to host their group. This means all the games in their group will be played in Belgium. This means our Women will play their games in the Lotto Park.
The calendar of our group in the qualifying round is as follows:
LSK Kvinner FK
Six time Norwegian League winners LSK Kvinner FK is the most difficult opponent, on paper at least, of all teams in the qualifying rounds. Last year, they reached the quarter finals of the UWCL, in which they were beaten by runner-up FC Barcelona. Also, 8 players were selected for the Norwegian national team, which stranded this summer in the quarter finals of the World Cup after losing against England.
With a total of 14 championship wins, of which 13 in a row, PAOK is the absolute superpower in Greece. This year, they participate for the 13th time at the UWCL, but they only passed the qualifying rounds 4 times.
Linfield Ladies are champions for the past 4 years in Northern Ireland. This summer they are qualified for the UWCL for the third time, but so far they never won any of their European games.
