The visitors had opened the score at the start of the second half via Jens Naessens, who beat Silvio Proto with a header. With that score, Zulte Waregem were in fact champions of Belgium. Francky Dury’s players, however, were only able to hold on to this virtual title for one minute.

About 4000 Purple & White fans headed for the Astridpark and created a fabulous atmosphere at the stadium.
