Transfer Matias Suarez to CSKA Moscow falls through

Matias Suarez will stick with Anderlecht. All of the documents were signed and the transfer had been settled completely, but last week Sporting’s Argentinian top player had to undergo some medical tests in a specialized hospital in Munich. These showed that the inflammation with which he has been struggling since last season’s Play-Offs has not healed yet. “The Russian club doesn’t want to take any chances, as they need a player that can be used immediately. That’s logical when you think of the amount of money involved”, Anderlecht manager Herman Van Holsbeeck explained after the match RSCA-Beerschot. “We will decide together with him and his entourage whether he will undergo surgery or not. We will do everything we can to make him 100% fit again by December. Mati is disappointed of course, but we will support him”, the manager stated. “It’s obvious that our entire transfer policy has been jeopardized now, as 11 million out of 40 is a lot. As far as a defender is concerned, we will wait until after the Champions League Play-Offs. We’ll have a few more days to negotiate, but we have to make sure that we already have a file now.”
