After last Sunday’s Supercup, this weekend, the Jupiler Pro League will take off again. National champion Sporting Anderlecht start the new season at the Guldensporen Stadium in Kortrijk. Coach John van den Brom has announced a selection of 19 players for the match.
Dennis Praet is not part of the selection. The youngster, who was in the starting line-up against Lokeren, is out with an ankle injury. "Things are progressing favourably for Dennis, but the game against Kortrijk and possibly also the one against Ekranas on Wednesday are too early for him", the Purple & White T1 said. "Fortunately, it’s not a heavy injury. Moreover, his convalesce is going better than we thought it would."
Roland Juhasz has been training with the group again this week and that is going well. "He has been able to train without any problems this week, so that’s good news", van den Brom said. "We can make him ready to rejoin the group more and more now. You can see that he has been out for a while, but things can go fast for him now." Meanwhile, Ronald Vargas is also getting closer to resuming with the rest of the group completely. "Ronald is on schedule, but he still needs two weeks or so before he can complete all of the group training sessions again. We can’t force this."
"We are really looking forward to the start of competition", van den Brom said. "We know that our programme in August will be heavy, but I can’t wait. Our preparation went well enough to get through this month", the coach said. "I am not yet where I want to be with this group, but that’s normal. I don’t think that any team is completely ready at the start of the league, no matter how much they might want it. The real automatisms still have to be developed and that’s why it’s good that we have a lot of matches in August. I think that we’ll play much better by the end of the month than now." On Saturday, the first JPL match of the season will take place. "The first game is always important, the players have to realize this and they do", van den Brom said. "On Sunday, the day after the game, the RSCA Fan Day will take place. The best moment to start with a victory..."
