The Purple & White have put a nice end to the season 2011-2012 with a 3-0 victory against Standard. After a goal by Dieumerci Mbokani in the first half, new Pro Player of the Year Matias Suarez and Fernando Canesin Matos provided the other two goals of the game.
Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs was able to count on Lucas Biglia again, he came back from suspension. Milan Jovanovic, Dieumerci Mbokani and Matias Suarez were present as well. Davy Schollen defended the Purple & White goal, this was his final match for Sporting Anderlecht.
Before kickoff, the Purple & White received several awards. Silvio Proto got the award for best goalie of the season, Lucas Biglia was elected best player of the season by the fans and Matias Suarez became Pro Player of the Year. Dieumerci Mbokani received his Ebony Shoe. Daniel Renders, Filip De Wilde, Davy Schollen and Michaël Cordier, who will not be part of the club anymore next season, received a gift from President Roger Vanden Stock. Sporting also received the Pappaert Trophy for the longest strike of matches without any losses of 2011 in the Belgian league.
The first half was nice to watch and the first opportunities were for the home team. Guillermo Molins tested the visitors’ defence a few times. The Rouches reacted via Gonzales, but Anderlecht goalie Davy Schollen nicely prevented his team from falling behind. Just before the thirtieth minute of play, the home team opened the score. Guillermo Molins wanted to pass the ball to Dieumerci Mbokani and the Standard defence were not able to get rid of the ball, so the ball reached the Congolese striker. He did not have any doubts and put in the 1-0. A few minutes later on Davy Schollen was attentive again on shots by Bjarnasson and Seijas. Anderlecht were also close to doubling their lead via Milan Jovanovic, but in the end the score remained 1-0 at half-time.
Sporting immediately carried through a replacement at the start of the second 45 minutes: Kanu replaced Roland Juhasz. The Purple & White remained the most dangerous team in the first stages of the second half and a second goal followed. In the end, the new Pro Player of the Year put in the 2-0. Dieumerci Mbokani fed the ball to Matias Suarez, who turned up alone in front of the goal and beat Standard goalie Moris. Milan Jovanovic was close to putting in the 3-0, but his shot from a distance was turned into a corner by the visiting goalie. The same Milan Jovanovic reached substitute Tom De Sutter, but his header went wide. The third goal went in ten minutes before the final whistle when Fernando Canesin Matos beat Standard goalie with a powerful shot - after a good pass by Dieumerci Mbokani. The Purple & White, like that, finish the season with a nice 3-0 victory over Standard de Liège.
