RSC Anderlecht will take on national champion KRC Genk as part of the 24th matchday of the Jupiler Pro League on Sunday 5th February 2012. Kickoff of that game will take place at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium at 2.30 p.m. Sporting’s coach has no selection problems, aside from the players with long-term injuries, everybody is fit.
Roland Juhasz has some neck troubles, but that should not be a problem for the match against KRC Genk. Fernando Canesin Matos is also fit. The young Brazilian was ill for a few days this week, but did train along with his teammates today, Friday 3rd February 2012.
Meanwhile, it has started to snow in Anderlecht and more snow is to be expected the next few days. "The field is still perfect", coach Ariël Jacobs said during the press conference. "They can perfectly play on this pitch, but okay, everything depends on how much snow is to follow. When it snows it is always risky." Anyway, it will definitely be cold on Sunday. "Football is a sport for men and a winter sport", the T1 said. "I have asked the players to provide us with action on the field", he laughed.
Anderlecht took 10 points out of 12 in the first four matches after the winter break. And the Purple & White coach is satisfied about that. “We knew that we were facing very difficult months in January and February", Jacobs concluded. "I would have chosen ten points out of twelve beforehand." At home, Anderlecht have been playing very well the past few matches, things are going less well away. "As coach you look for reasons why those matches differ, but I still don’t know the reason. In any case, there is no attitude problem. We knew that things were going to be difficult against Beerschot, the team played well against the first six teams. We were ready for that match and, still, things did not go as we would have liked them to go. Football is not a predictable sport... We have to try and do what we have to every single game."
No Dennis Praet in the selection this time. The youngster will leave for Viareggio with the U-21 team together with Lamisha Musonda, Bryan Verboom, Jordan Lukaku and Davy Roef this weekend.
Selection : Bedi, Biglia, Canesin Matos, Cordier, Deschacht, De Sutter, Gillet, Jovanovic, Juhasz, Kljestan, Kouyate, Marecek, Mbokani, Odoi, Patou, Proto, Safari, Schollen, Suarez, Wasilewski
