Purple & White take six points on Club Brugge after 3-0 win

RSC Anderlecht have started the year 2012 brilliantly with a 3-0 victory in the top match against Club Brugge as part of the 20th matchday of the Jupiler Pro League. The Purple & White started well when Dieumerci Mbokani put in the 1-0 after only three minutes of play. Milan Jovanovic doubled the lead halfway through the first half and after sixty minutes Matias Suarez scored the 3-0.

Ariël Jacobs started the game with an offensive line consisting of Milan Jovanovic, Dieumerci Mbokani and brand new Golden Shoe Matias Suarez. Olivier Deschacht was chosen for the left back position instead of Behrang Safari and Lucas Biglia made his comeback on the Purple & White midfield after having been out for more than two months. Mati was also officially handed his Golden Shoe by Anderlecht president Roger Vanden Stock and secretary-general Philippe Collin.

Anderlecht were off to a flying start. After only three minutes of play, the 1-0 appeared on the board when Golden Shoe Matias Suarez, after a nice action, reached Dieumerci Mbokani, who provided Sporting with the lead via a hard shot. The team from Brugge reacted quickly, but a centre by Dirar was not turned into a goal. A few seconds later on Milan Jovanovic was faster than Zimling, but his shot was not powerful enough. Only ten minutes had passed when Zimling passed the ball to Odjidja Ofoe and Silvio Proto lost his balance, but the shot of the Brugge midfielder hit the side of the net. After that fewer opportunities were created, but halfway through the first half, Sporting were able to double their lead. Dieumerci Mbokani created a good action and reached Milan Jovanovic, who beat Jorgacevic at the far post: 2-0. Club Brugge tried to react via shots by Dirar at the end of the first half, but goalie Silvio Proto was attentive and kept his goal clean.

Fewer scoring opportunities were created in the second 45 minutes, but Brugge substitutes Lestienne and Akpala did come close to scoring the tying goal. Lestienne reached Akpala, whose shot only just went wide. Sporting reacted via a header by Roland Juhasz, but Jorgacevic made the save. A little before the sixtieth minute of play, Matias Suarez added lustre to his Golden Shoe by outmanoeuvring Almeback, taking the ball from him, passing Jorgacevic and putting the 3-0 in an empty goal. That 3-0 was also the final score.

Sporting thus take a good start in the new year 2012 and now have six points on Club Brugge and four on KAA Ghent. RSC Anderlecht’s next game will take place in and against KV Kortrijk on Saturday 21st January 2012 at 6 p.m.
