Selection : RSC Anderlecht - Lokomotiv Moscow

Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs has announced a selection of 19 players for the EL match against Lokomotiv Moscow as part of the sixth and final match in the UEFA Europa League group stage. Both the Purple & White and the Russian visitors are sure of their spot in the round of 32 of the European league, but on Wednesday a battle for first place will take place at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

Dieumerci Mbokani is part of the selection of 19 players, but is still doubtful. “He only trained for twenty minutes with the group on Monday and we first have to see whether his body will have a reaction to this or not”, Sporting’s T1 said. “The echo he underwent today showed that there is still a little fluid present in the injury. Whether Dieu himself hopes he will be able to play? Of course he wants to play, but the most important thing is that he does not make it worse again. He will definitely not start the match.”

“A football player always wants to win...”

Anderlecht are in a unique situation. Even if they lose with a small difference (Lokomotiv have to score at least three times and score two goals more than the Purple & White, rsca.be) Sporting can still finish this stage as group winner. “How to go about a match like that? As always we will go for the win”, Jacobs said. “Every player that goes out there, wants to win. Even when you know that a small defeat or a draw could be enough, you always go for the victory. But okay, there is no doubt that we want to finish first in the group and hopefully we can also increase our number of points.”

Despite the nice 15 points after 5 matches, Anderlecht are still looking for solutions in midfield ever since Lucas Biglia underwent surgery. “We knew we were going to miss him”, Jacobs, who appears to be planning on leaving Cheikhou Kouyate in defence, said. “You can’t rule anything out, but you have to make sure you don’t create any problems by trying to solve one...”

RSC Anderlecht will respect a minute’s silence in the honour of the victims in Liège, the late kit manager José Lago and former player Hippolyte Van Den Bosch. The RSC Anderlecht players will also play the UEL match against Lokomotiv Moscow wearing a mourning band.

Selection : Badibanga, Cordier, Deschacht, De Sutter, Fernando, Gillet, Iakovenko, Jovanovic, Juhasz, Kljestan, Kouyate, Marecek, Mbokani, Odoi, Proto, Safari, Schollen, Suarez, Wasilewski

Kickoff of RSCA-Lokomotiv Moscow will take place at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on Wednesday 14th December 2011 at 9.05 p.m.
