RSC Anderlecht beat Sint-Truiden 3-1

RSC Anderlecht took on the tormented Sint-Truiden on Sunday 20th November 2011. The team from Sint-Truiden are at the bottom of the league table and also lost at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium. The match ended in a 3-1 win for RSCA thanks to goals by Marcin Wasilewski and Matias Suarez (2). The Purple & White also remain in the lead thanks to this victory.

Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs was not able to count on Roland Juhasz against STVV, the Hungarian defender took his fifth yellow card of the season at Cercle and was suspended. Dieumerci Mbokani was also absent, the striker is not ready to play matches yet. Juhasz was replaced by Olivier Deschacht in central defence and the Congolese forward by Fernando Canesin Matos. Ziguy Badibanga was also in the starting line-up, Lukas Marecek sat on the bench.

The Purple & White showed the most initiative during the first stages of the game, but the best chance was one by STVV striker Reza whose shot went wide after a pass by Daerden. After fifteen minutes of play Milan Jovanovic took off, but the Serbian forward was fouled on the verge of the box. Marcin Wasilewski took the free kick, which passed the wall and Verhulst: 1-0. Anderlecht were also dangerous after the opening goal, thanks to for instance attempts by Gillet, Badibanga and Jovanovic. Sint-Truiden reacted via Schouterden, but his free kick was turned into a corner by Silvio Proto. At the end of the first half Sporting were able to double their lead via Matias Suarez. The Argentinian finished off an action by Gillet and Jovanovic perfectly. Ziguy Badibanga almost put in the 3-0 just before half-time, but Verhulst made the save.

In the second half the 3-0 did go in just before the sixtieth minute of play. Matias Suarez, him again, put in a cross by Behrang Safari with a perfect header. Fernando and Badibanga had chances to increase the lead, but their attempts went wide. Youngster Dennis Praet also created an opportunity, but the substitute’s shot was saved on the line. During the final minutes of the game, the Kanaries managed to score in reply: 3-1 thanks to a goal by Grégory Dufer after a pass by Anderlecht player Jordan Garcia Calvete, on loan in Sint-Truiden.

Anderlecht now have three points on AA Ghent thanks to his victory. The Purple & White will play their next match next Saturday at 6 p.m. in Zulte Waregem.
