For the Purple & White U-21, an away match at Sint-Truiden was scheduled on Friday 28th October 2011. None of Sporting’s A squad players travelled along to Limburg. Sporting lost 3-1 at Stayen, Massimo Bruno scored the only Purple & White goal.
The match could not start worse for coach Geert Emmerechts’ players, as they were already behind 1-0 after a few minutes. Rubin Okotie scored for the home team when he successfully took over a blocked shot by Smentana. After fifteen minutes of play, the score even became 2-0, this time Carlo Evertz put the ball in. The team from Brussels scored the tying goal just before half-time via Massimo Bruno, who put the ball calmly past goalie Bram: 2-1. Anderlecht put a lot of pressure on Sint-Truiden in the second half, but they did not manage to score. The home team, too, were dangerous now and then - especially during the first stages of the second half - but only five minutes before the final whistle substitute Jannick Weegmans put the 3-1 final score on the board from up close. For the U-21, this is only the first defeat of the season.
