Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs has to miss a great deal of players again at training just before the play-offs. Nine players - eight of which started last Sunday’s match against Ghent - have obligations with their national teams. Furthermore, injured players Olivier Deschacht (ankle), Cristophe Diandy (hamstring), Kanu (ankle), Jonathan Legear (hamstring) and Matias Suarez (knee) are also still absent at training. They are continuing their convalesce.
Romelu Lukaku and Silvio Proto are the only two Purple & White players to have been selected for the Belgian national team. The Red Devils have to play two qualifying matches for the European Championships. On Friday 25th March, the match against Austria will take place in Vienna and, four days later, on Tuesday 29th March, the Devils will receive Azerbeidzjan at the Heizel.
For Roland Juhasz, a double confrontation against Holland is scheduled. Both games are also part of qualification for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The first match will take place in Hungary on Friday, the second next Tuesday in Amsterdam.
Lucas Biglia will practise against the United States on Saturday 26th March and, like that, may face his Purple & White teammate Sacha Kljestan. On Tuesday 29th March, Argentina have a second practice game scheduled, against Costa Rica. Sacha Kljestan will also play a friendly match on Tuesday. The United States will take on Paraguay.
Ziguy Badibanga, who provided the assist for the 3-2 on Sunday, will play two games with the Belgian U-21 team. On Thursday 24th March, the young Devils will practise against Scotland in Deinze at 7 p.m. and, four days later on, on Monday 28th March, a friendly game against Greece will take place. That match will be played in Beringen (7 p.m.).
Jan Lecjaks, Lukas Marecek and Ondrej Mazuch have been selected for the Czech U-21 team. They, too, have two friendly matches planned. On Friday 25th March 2011, they will take on Belorussia and, on Tuesday 29th March, a match against France is scheduled.
