RSCA win at Stayen thanks to two goals by Romelu Lukaku

After a break of a little more than a week because of international matches, a match of the Belgian first division took place again tonight, Friday 10th September 2010. Anderlecht opened the sixth match day with an away game at Stayen.

Anderlecht coach Ariël Jacobs selected the 16-year-old Nathan Kabasele for the first time, he started on the bench.

The first opportunities of the match were for the home team. After some ten minutes of play, Caluwé reached Camara, but his shot hit the post. The team from Brussels reacted and immediately scored on their first chance. Romelu Lukaku was the player to open the score after 18 minutes of play. The young striker controlled a centre by Suarez and immediately took a swing. Van der Jeugt did not stand a chance against this shot: 0-1. Twelve minutes later, the same Romelu Lukaku scored the 0-2, Boussoufa had fed the ball to the Belgian international, whose perfectly placed shot went in. Sint-Truiden tried to react and got close to scoring the tying goal through Sidibe, but Anderlecht goalie Silvio Proto made a brilliant save on the header. At the end of the first half, the home team were dangerous again through Sidibe, but Proto again managed to save.

Anderlecht were close to scoring a second goal a few times during the second half, but Lukaku’s header after a corner went long. Somewhat later on, Boussoufa took his chance, but his shot was averted by Odoi. The score remained the same. Ariël Jacobs also allowed the young Nathan Kabasele to make his debut in the Jupiler Pro League a few minutes before the final whistle.

RSCA’s next match is the Europa League game against Zenit Saint Petersburg at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on Thursday 16th September 2010.
